* Filipino bread Recipe
Pan de Siosa
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- 2 and 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- I/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup soften butter ( room temperature )
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 egg ( egg wash )
Topping:
- Melted cutter
- Sugar
- Shredded cheese
Method:
- In a mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine yeast, warm water and a tsp of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it’s foamy.
- Add milk, egg, butter, sugar and salt.
- Mix everything
- Add flour gradually just until the dough gathers in the centre of the bowl
- Knead until dough is smooth and stretch thinly
- Shape it into a ball and place into a bowl, cover with kitchen towel and let it rise fro 1- 2 hours or until size is doubled.
- Gently deflate it and divide to 12 -14 portions.
- Shape into smooth ball and arrange them in a greased baking pan
- Cover the pan with kitchen towel and let the dough rise again fro about an hour or until the size has doubled.
- Preheat the oven at 350°F
- Brush the rolls with egg and bake it for 18-20 minutes
- Brush the surface with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar and top with shredded cheese. You can put as much sugar and cheese as you like.
