When learning free-motion machine quilting, sometimes it’s helpful to have a little help! I like to look at quilting stencils, fabric panels and large scale prints as “Training Wheels for Machine Quilting”.
Having a guide line to follow means that you can focus on learning the free-motion quilting process without having to stress where to go next. As you begin to get more and more comfortable with machine quilting, then you can practice quilting your designs within a defined area on the fabric or even practice maneuvering around an area.
With a little practice, you will be able to leave the training wheels behind and just go for it!
