This was super interesting to find in Japan! We imported two of them actually, not sure where they came from as I've never seen them in Japan. Notable, all the warning labels, and a lot of the menu navigation in the game are in Japanese. Interesting that the HDD is labeled DSW102-1-NA-MPRO-X, but the gamedata is in a DSW110_JP container. It is definitely a Japanese version, though we haven't dug into the data to see any differences or whatnot. We got a dump, and at some point should probably get a US version to look over and compare.
The Mach Storm/STAR WARS Battle Pod multi is interesting as well. It made it our way a few years ago, and we never put it to test. It boots with a selector for the games that you can select with the thrust lever. The STAR WARS version is in English, so at very least, we have a way to operate that. I can probably also make an image to just boot it, if ever I need to repair a US version, but I'll probably want to dump a clean version anyway. Mach Storm has some problems on STAR WARS cabs; the fan turns on full when in attract loop, and it felt as if the right stick could only move right. It's definitely not something I'd recommend using in public operation, but it's a neat image for proof of concept!
Final note, apparently you can link pods. For STAR WARS, it allows for score challenges between players or something, not sure if it was functional for Mach Storm. Haven't been able to try this out, but pretty neat!
