Former President Pranab Mukherjee, whose health has worsened after a lung infection, a hospital in Delhi, passed away on Monday. The former President, who had undergone a brain surgery at the Army's Research and Referral Hospital, was in coma since earlier this month. Announcing the news of his demise, the former Congress veteran’s so Abhijit Mukherjee, said his father passed away despite the best efforts of the doctors. 84-year-old Mukherjee, who had senior ministerial positions in the Congress-led governments over the years, had developed a lung infection and a renal dysfunction over the past few days. Before his surgery on August 10 he had tested positive for novel coronavirus.
