This was my beachfront rental in 2019 at Dumaguete Negros Oriental Philippines

Rent $300Cdn ($220US) 13,000p month

Included: small kitchen, small sink, bar size fridge, gas burner, 1 set of dishes, cutlery and glass (had to ask for a second set), double bed, small old tv with cable, WiFi, small bathroom with no hot water but honestly get used to it quickly, water on well, small built-in closet, small table inside, 2 plastic chairs, patio had small table great for morning coffee and listening to the ocean. Outdoor shower on side for after ocean dips, which was every day.

It wasn't fancy, the German landlord who resided in the main house on the same property did not spend money on upkeep. But for the price it was a great spot. The sound of the waves were so relaxing. If you left the door open you could see the water while laying in bed, which also meant anyone on the water in front of the cottage could see you in bed! I miss the coffee and meals on the small patio and most of all I miss the resident dog - he was so friendly and would often be laying outside my door when I got up in the morning.

The nice thing about Negros Oriental is it is protected by other islands so we don't get direct hits by big waves like other islands that are on the open water side of the island coastlines.

Come for a few visits to the Philippines like I did in 2017 but be warned after 4 visits and exploring many spots I decided yo retire here - maybe you will retire here like I did in 2018.

In addition you can use your home in the Philippines as your base as you travel. Travel in the Philippines and the wider Asia is a great value - so much more to discover.

The Philippines is full of amazing people, it is a beautiful country, has diverse geography to explore, great tasty food, abundant fruit, vegetables, meats and seafood, varied living options from a modern apartment or condo or home to many different more rustic options with character and at varied prices to suit all budgets.
