During the 1970's the Los Angeles Rams had a great team, but they just could not get past the NFC Divisional round playoffs and the NFC Championship game. Each year they either lost to the Minnesota Vikings or the Dallas Cowboys:

1975 NFC Championship: Dallas 37 Los Angeles 7
1976 NFC Playoff: Minnesota 24 Los Angeles 13
1977 NFC Playoff: Minnesota 14, Los Angeles 7
1978 NFC Championship: Dallas 28 Los Angeles 0
Finally on December 30, 1979, the last game of the 1970's, the Rams pulled out a last minute victory against the Dallas Cowboys to win 21-19. The following week the Rams beat Tampa Bay 9-0 in the NFC Championship game to advance to Super Bowl XIV.
