Reports suggest that the city of Chennai has only 12 days of drinking water left as the four major reservoirs supporting the city’s drinking water supply have dried up.
The Chennai Metro water officials have also addressed concerns about the alarmingly low level of groundwater in the region that is noted at a low of as much as 144% in some areas, and are working on a strategy to cope up with the city's daily requirement of 830 MLD of water.
