The peace process will collapse if Israel goes ahead with plans to confiscate Arab land in Jerusalem, a Palestinian Cabinet minister told the United States on Tuesday.
Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo said his meeting in the P-L-O-ruled enclave of Jericho with Madeleine Albright, U-S ambassador to the United Nations, focused on Israel's decision to expropriate more Arab land for the building Jewish neighbourhoods in Jerusalem.
Earlier, Albright met Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in Jerusalem.
Madeleine Albright is in the Middle East for a two day visit. On Tuesday shemet with both Israeli and Palestinian political figures to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and U-N sanctions against Iran.
After meeting Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin. she told reporters that she was determined "to make sure that the U-N becomes Israel-friendly."

"The United States has taken a very strong unilateral action and because we believe in it, and because we understand the importance of taking this action, it is going to cause some difficulties internally - in the United States as far as jobs and the economy are concerned but we believe in it, we will work to persuade our allies to understand the importance of it and that is our job as leaders to do that."

Israel will cooperate, said its Prime Minister.

"We will be co-operative with any initiative in whatever form to be done on the international scene, in what ways we have to wait and what will be proposed by the President, by the administration, in addition to what is done now between countries including the United States."

After meeting the Israelis, Albright travelled to the West Bank town of Jericho, under control of the Palestinian Authority where she toured the El-Duyuk Water Project and met local leaders. The meetings concentrated on Israel's plans to confiscate Arab-owned land in Jerusalem.
She then crossed into Jordan to meet the country's Foreign Minister, Abdul Karim Kabariti.
