Spent a cold Mid December day on a small limestone stream in Eastern PA. Jigging a streamer was the ticket. It was a typical winter type of a day...Cold, clear water. Air temps started out in the 20s and moved into the mid 30s.
This type of weather is perfect for jigging streamers. You can work fast and efficient and cover a lot of stream to look for the aggressive fish. Depth is relative on a small stream, but the trout were typically off the main current in deeper water or depressions.
The streamer was a size 8 Honey Badger Sculpin in Olive.
Give jigging streamers a try, especially this time of year. It is an exciting way to fish!
