Here is a short cross country XC route starting from above Chamonix which you can fly and be home in time for lunch.
Leave your car at the train station in Chedde (45.926488, 6.719838) near one of the landing fields at Passy, take the train 8 stops to the station Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. 5 Minutes walking from here you take a gondola lift to Plan Praz at 2000m where the launch is just a few minutes walk away. From here you can take in some of the amazing views out towards Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc.
Thermals start working from mid morning and this launch is busy so you can watch other people take off before you risk bombing out . Once you have taken off you’re just one thermal away from an 8km glide over to Passy Plaine-Joux.
