THE PERFECT CHOCOLATE EASTER EGGS SOLD IN ROME
Rome residents took to the city's chocolate shops this week in search of the perfect chocolate Easter egg.
Near the Pantheon square, chocolate lovers flocked to "Quetzalcoatl" chocolate shop to view chocolates in all shapes and sizes.
Many prefer the traditional egg shaped Easter egg.
Rome resident, Anna Bernardini described the shape of the egg as "perfection."
"The chocolate egg has an ancient history," she said.
Shop owner Ida Petrillo said some of her customers preferred other chocolate shapes at Easter.
"We realised that people buy the eggs, but like also the small animals. They come here because they find a lot of animals, like rabbits, because the rabbit in America is an Easter symbol," she told AP Television.
A group of American tourists seemed unsure as to why the egg was associated with Easter.
An Italian woman shared a similar view.
"I think, it's a passage from death to life. That's why it is known as Easter of resurrection," said Maria.
