“We fight to make Africans proud to be dressed elegantly with clothes and pieces made in our continent. I have no doubt that our time will come. We will shine and flood the international fashion scene with our heritage and our creativity”.
We are pleased to share the first episode of our Serie “Heritage & Savoir-Faire”, with an immersion in Pathé’O’s universe.
Pathe’O champions the preservation of African savoir-faire. For decades, tie and dye has been the soul of his creations, weaving together the threads of tradition and modernity.
This technique has been passed down from generation to generation of women for centuries, according to a precise process. The fabric is first tied by the men using ligatures made with cotton thread. Dyeing is a specifically feminine task.
Once immersed in hot water baths, the fabrics macerate in plant pigments. Indigo, avocado kernel, hibiscus flowers, cola nuts, dried onions, tree bark... So many natural, non-allergenic and biodegradable dyes, allowing to obtain a diverse color chart and making it an eco-responsible process.
The international fashion and luxury scenes have reached a crossroad where a deep meaning and purpose need to be clarified by brands.
With our “Heritage & Savoir-Faire” Serie, we would like to show that the african fashion industry, centered around its diverse heritage of artisanal and ancestral techniques as well as savoir-faire, can participate, in its own way, to the definition of the new luxury codes.
Embark with us on this transformative odyssey, where each stitch embodies resilience and tells stories: the ones of our heritage.
