Everywhere you go, you can find someone talking about getting an information technology degree. But what does it really mean to get a degree in IT – and what can it do for your career path? Isn’t it just as good to teach yourself IT, or learn your skills from one-off online courses?
Spoiler alert: If you really want to stand out from the crowd, a degree in IT is the way to do it. Whether you pursue an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s, once you have a degree on your resume, your potential employers will know that you’re someone who is serious about the field – not just someone who thinks it seemed like an interesting way to fill a weekend.
Consider an information technology degree the fuel to your IT career – without it, you’ll still be able to coast, but you’ll never really get your career in gear.
