Intermittent fasting vs time restricted feeding.... what is the difference between them, what are the protocols for both and is one better then the other.
There are two popular protocols for Intermittent Fasting:
1- Fast for 24 hours once or twice per week
2- Skip a meal a day in a fasted state for 12 to 14 hours a few times per week (not every day)
Some of the advantages of intermittent fasting over time restricted eating is that calorie restriction is intermittent and will prevent your metabolism from slowing down.
There is only one protocol for Time Restricted Eating:
1- Restrict your eating to a specific time window like 8 hours. Only eat within an 8 hour time period every day. For example, eat between the hours of 12:00pm to 8:00pm.
Be careful not to restrict calories too much...make sure you are eating nutrient rich foods by eating a lot of vegetables, lean meats, fish, nuts and healthy fats like olive oil.
I personally like both methods; it just depends on what works best for you. There are great health benefits to both.
