Csalamáde - Pickled Vegetables - Mixed Pickles Hungarian - Style by Magdi
1 large cabbage (2 lb.) sliced
3 onions sliced
2-3 red peppers
6-7 Persian cucumber (easier on the stomach)
or pickling cucumber
2-3 large carrots sliced
1-2 cups white vinegar
4-6 cups water
2-3 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
1-2 tablespoons coarse salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon peppercorn
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon natrium benzonate
Slice the vegetables, add 1 tablespoon salt and mix. Sprinkle in peppercorn and muster seeds.
Mix water, sugar, salt and vinegar. Poor the mixture over the vegetables, mix well. Leave it out for a day and mix it 3-4 times.
