EU "북핵 협상, 단계적 접근 필요"
President Moon Jae-in's envoy to the European Union has met with Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council,... for talks in Brussels on ways to denuclearize North Korea.
Along with Tusk, Cho Yoon-je also discussed related matters with Federica Mogherini, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Helga Schmid, the Secretary General of the European External Action Service.
Based on their lessons from denuclearizing Iran, Mogherini said North Korea's nuclear development cannot be stopped at once, but that it should be dealt with on a step-by-step basis.
Schmid added that Seoul must offer inducements to Pyongyang on top of sanctions,... and that South Korea should play the leading role in solving the issue.
The two sides also arranged a meeting between President Moon and Tusk at the G20 Summit in Germany in July.
