As Sierra Leone prepares for Saturday's presidential run-off poll, concerns are raising over negative ethnicity. It is being reported that local politicians are playing on ethnic passions to win support. Local media regulator - Sierra Leone Association of Journalists - has released a statement condemning such acts, especially posts made on social media. Sierra Leone has about sixteen ethnic communities, with the Temne and Mende being the largest. Although the country suffered a deadly civil war that it is recovering from, it was not based on ethnicity, rather on resources. Locals are also condemning this emerging and divisive trend in the political landscape of the West African nation.
