SEHEL Island (the island of the iscriptions on the rocks) II:
Sehel island is located at 4km at the south of Aswan (at the north of the old Aswan Dam). In ancient times this island was important because many travellers who went to Nubia, or who returned from the south, often went in pilgrimage to the sacred island of Sehel leaving inscriptions Several of them recording events happened moreover there are many inscriptions representing the triad of gods of the area (god Khnum and goddeses Anuket & Satet). The inscriptions are carved on granite rocks over several areas of the island.The most famous inscription of the island is known as "The Stele of the Famine" (watch my video EGYPT 862)
