Seductively cheesy, perfectly layered, and made with love this lasagna🍝is truly a love affair on a plate. Don't you agree?
Ingredients📒
12 Lasagna noodles
454 gr Grass fed ground Beef
500 gr mild Italian Sausage
250 gr Mozzarella cheese, grated, for the topping
100 gr Parmesan cheese, grated, for the topping
1 large yellow Onion, diced
3 cloves Garlic, minced
4 cups Marinara sauce
2 tbsp Tomato paste
1 cup full bodied Red Wine
2 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 tbsp Olive oil
Cheese Mixture
500 gr Cottage cheese
475 gr Ricotta cheese
150 gr Parmesan cheese, grated
250 gr Mozzarella cheese, grated
1/2 cup fresh Parsley, chopped
2 Eggs
Salt, to taste
Marinara Sauce
2 large can (56 ounces) whole peeled Tomatoes
1 large yellow Onion, peeled and halved
4 cloves of Garlic, peeled and left whole
2 tbsp Olive oil
2 tsp dried Oregano
2 tsp brown Sugar
2 tsp Balsamic Vinegar
Salt, to taste
Marinara Sauce
In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine all the ingredients except salt.
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium-high heat, then lower the heat, simmer for about 1 hr. Stir occasionally. Discard the onion. Crush the tomatoes, garlic and if any little onion pieces, cook another 15 minutes on low heat. Add salt, to taste
Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a large bowl, combine all the cheese, add the parsley and the eggs, salt, mix it well.
In a Dutch oven brown the beef, sausage, onion, and garlic in Olive oil over medium-high heat until meat cooks evenly. Stir in the tomato paste, Marinara sauce, Wine, Italian seasoning, Salt and Pepper. Simmer until slightly thickened over medium-low heat.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water, set aside.
Spread 1/3 of the meat sauce in a 9 × 13 casserole dish. Top it with 4 lasagna noodles. Layer with half of the cheese mixture and 1/3 of the meat sauce. Lay the second layer of the lasagna noodles, top with the second half of the cheese mixture, followed by the last layer of noodles and the rest of the meat sauce. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the top with the mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Bake or Broil uncovered until browned and bubbly. Rest for 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
