Ok, let's talk real about real security...
Well, maybe this is less about cyber security and more about AI (is this a trend for me?). There have been a number of articles and news reports surrounding the role of AI in the Insurance industry. In one case we have a court defending employees of an agency that was replacing claim officers with AI and in other news we see rapid adoption of AI to manage claims and automate premiums, especially in heathcare.
This does make sense. Insurance is based on actuarial data and the application of actuarial science, lending itself perfectly to the capabilities of AI. Frankly, it’s a no brainer. However, AI will represent the “system” without emotion, which is clearly advantageous for the system as opposed to a system partially balanced with common sense.
How many times have you felt victimized by “the system” or felt that something was unfair and that you got tied up and buried in red tape? We’ve all been there. And if you think about it, in some of those cases a person (e.g., human) stepped in and pointed you in the right direction, lent a helping hand, or just said, “I’ll help you with this. I don’t know why, but this causes issues for so many people.” And a few clicks later… all fixed.
Now, imagine a world where that red tape – created by humans – is a set of immutable rules that are judged to the letter of the law. However, and this is a big one, given the fluidity of algorithms, interpretations will manifest creating logical diversions. Meaning, the red tape could get worse.
