The Quadratus Lumborum (QL) of the low back are muscles between the bottom of the ribs and the top of the pelvis on each side. The QL is almost always involved in low back pain, back spasms and tightness. You can treat the low back with self manual therapy at home using the Thrival and these mobility exercises.
It is important to release the QL from adhesion and trigger points when attempting any type of low back strengthening exercises, spine stability routines or low back stretches.
Setup the Thrival Meat Grinder pointing in, set at 2 and 3 or 3 and 3. Then, Lay on your back and push up into a bridge, lifting your hips off the floor, slide the Thrival under and place the the attachments so they will will contact the muscles in the space between the ribs and the pelvis on each side of your low back. Do this for 30 seconds.
Expert Tip:
While in this position, try stepping your feet slowly to one side, keeping your knees in towards each other. Focus on treating the side you are stepping away from.
