The Arizona K12 Center is proud to be the home of Arizona's Master Teacher Program. This program provides the resources and training for teachers to seek National Board Certification or become a Master Teacher to support the newest members of our profession.
With limited resources and extreme budget constraints, Arizona schools are challenged more than ever to fulfill their vital mission of educating our children. In such difficult times, teacher leaders play an even more critical role. Through a rigorous application and selection process, the Arizona K12 Center helps identify and then train Master Teachers to support the newest members of our profession. To be identified as a Master Teacher, applicants undergo an extensive application process and peer review. The Master Teacher application requires teachers to demonstrate the highest level of teaching practice and professionalism. Master Teachers identified through this process can be selected to serve as mentors in their district and participate in high quality training through the Arizona K12 Center as they support the newest members of our profession.
National Board Certification is simply the highest form of professional recognition a teacher can attain. To become board certified, teachers have to demonstrate how their practice measures up against the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, by submitting a portfolio of their work, and sitting for a rigorous exam.
For us it is about recruiting and retaining top talent. This program does just that!
