The Vintage Compressor is one of the incredibly useful plugin effects in Cubase. It models vintage compressors to control the dynamics of your audio production and features a number of controls. These include the compression ratio, attack, release, a Punch button to preserve the original attack of the sound, a mix control to blend the amount of wet and dry signals, plus meters to show input/output levels and how much gain reduction is being applied. Using a compressor is a great way to tighten the sound of drums, for example in Groove Agent, and it can really help to shape your music production. It’s also included in the channel strip, side chain compression is very easy to set up and, of course, there are a wide range of factory presets to get you started.
