Ransomware / Crypto attacks have become more and more common in recent years. Essentially the attacker encrypts all of the files on your NAS and will only decrypt them if you send them money. Because of the strength of encryption its almost impossible to get your files back without the encryption key. However using Snapshots with Synology BTRFS you can use snapshots to get your files back!
