The revolutionary army's commander, General Antonio Luna (John Arcilla), is raring to go. Following three centuries as a Spanish colony, the Philippines must now contend with a new foreign power: the United States of America. General Luna wants to fight for liberty, but the elite want to make a deal with the Americans. The new administration is divided, but General Luna and his faithful men press on, even as his military decisions are met with opposition from soldiers who are only loyal to President Aguinaldo. (Mon Confiado). Finally, it is the general's famous fury and pride that bring him to his death when he is assassinated in broad sight by a band of presidential guards. While American publications blamed Aguinaldo, the mystery surrounding General Luna's killing was never fully investigated, and his assassins were never brought to court.
