Less than 1% of flying-foxes and microbats may carry the deadly Lyssa virus and in the event that you are bitten or scratched by the bat, such bat will need to be euthanized for testing for the virus. Please contact and wait for your local wildlife rescue organisation to send a trained and vaccinated rescuer.
