Chinese rescue workers are drilling deep into the ground today in an increasingly desperate bid to save 21 gold miners who have been trapped for the past 11 days. At least one miner is known to have died after a blast in Chinese eastern Shangdong province, as local authorities are accused of having delayed the blast announcement.
