Known as the jubilee of the pharaohs, the 'heb sed' or Sed Festival was performed at their coronation, 30 years later, and then every couple of years after that.
I take a look at the sorts of things that went on at the Sed Feast, as well as what it might signify about the way the ancient Egyptians thought of kingship and the right to rule.
