The deadliest concentration camp of the Second World War was Auschwitz, but what is surprising is that the British government and the American government knew what was happening inside of the camp. They knew that thousands of people were being deported to the camp via the railway and train tracks, but despite this they never took action to bomb the train tracks and destroy the railway infrastructure. This would have prevented the SS deporting thousands of people to the camp each day.
The question as to, 'Why did the Allies not bomb the Auschwitz train tracks,' has plagued Historians and there are many reasons why they did not. One of these was the worry that they would strike prisoners, but the action could have saved more lives if the US and British air forces would have carried out strikes on the Auschwitz railway lines.
