Got the honor to start behing Josh Bryceland my qualification run for Megavalanche 2017 at Alpe d'Huez.
Plan was to aim for first line start of Megavalanche Challengers Race of Saturday. Thus, I had to qualify between 36th and 39th.There are 3 spots per leg for the first line of each race. First 35 are qualified for the big boys race on sunday.
Around 1 mile before the finish line, I was exactly 35th. Everything was working perfectly.
Then I got hit unintentionally on the right hand side by another rider. I felt right away that my shoulder was dislocated, but I was so close to the finish that I tried to keep going.
Funny thing is I didn't realize my handlebars were backwards... X Up Style !
Actually, I stopped to put back the shoulder myself because the pain was so intense. Then I realize my handlebars issue.
Lost over 20 spots on the qualification, and not sure to race tomorrow.
Well, it was a great week of riding in Alpe d'Huez and the Megavalanche race would have been amazing, but being hurt of having a mechanical is part of the game. I will be back at Alpe d'Huez for Megavalanche 2018 !
