Conduction vaporizers
- Often found on budget vapes, though some high-end units use this tech
- Not very efficient, not very good for flavor
- Good on battery, great for hit size
- Best results with a fine grind, packed down a bit, and let to heat-soak once heated.
Hybrid vaporizers
-Found on units inexpensive, mid-range, and expensive.
- More efficient and flavorful than conduction, less than hybrid
- Pretty good on battery life, great for hit size
- Best results with fluffy grind packed down slightly
Convection vaporizers
- Often found on expensive units, though now some budget units have convection.
- Most efficient with flower, best preservation of flavor
- Poor on battery life, requires draw technique to get best cloud results
- Best results with fluffy, coarse grind not packed down.
In terms of what is preferred, it depends on the situation. Most of the time at home we use a pure convection desktop vaporizer, while on the go we have a preference towards hybrid herb vaporizers. Conduction vapes are fun for heavy heavy hits through a water pipe.
