The lappet-faced vulture or Nubian vulture is an Old World vulture belonging to the bird order Accipitriformes, which also includes eagles, kites, buzzards and hawks. Lappet-faced vultures are mostly black or brown, but the feathers on the thighs are white. The featherless head has pink or reddish skin. The bird takes its name from the large skin folds, or lappets, that hang along the sides of its head.
