70-85% of ACL injuries have a non-contact or indirect contact mechanism (Griffin et al, 2000 & Walden et al, 2015), such as landing from a jump, attempting to side-step an opponent or getting bumped in the air prior to landing from a jump.
Exposing athletes/patients to unanticipated changes of direction and perturbations (similar to those seen in the video) is therefore an important component to both ACL reconstruction rehab and primary ACL injury prevention.
