While we've all been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the hotter GRMN-branded Supra, Toyota has been working diligently on the next iteration of this beloved sports car. And guess what? We might not have to wait much longer! Rumor has it that the new Supra could make its debut as soon as 2025, likely as a 2026 model year in North America.

Initially, it was believed that the sixth-generation Supra would be exclusively available with a fully electric powertrain. But, things are changing. Due to the recent slowdown in electric vehicle investments and Toyota's "multi-pathway approach" to reducing emissions, there's now speculation that the Supra's replacement may also be offered with an internal combustion engine.

The current Toyota GR Supra, which was introduced in 2019, shares its underpinnings with the BMW Z4 G29. Surprisingly, nearly five years later, we've yet to see any signs of a next-generation prototype. Earlier this year, there were reports suggesting that the next Supra would go the EV-only route. However, the latest rumors paint a different picture. An internal combustion engine-powered Supra is now expected to arrive in 2025, preceding the fully electric version anticipated in 2026.
