So finally winter is here, for Bengali it means 'Nolen Gur' or Date palm jaggery. Nolen Gurer Rosogolla is a seasonal Bengali delicacy available only during winter (November to January) season in Bengal.
This Nolen Gurer Rosogolla is made from Nolen Gur (jaggery made from date palm tree extract with exquisite taste and aroma) and the taste is just heavenly. Unlike cane jaggery, date palm jaggery is not intensely sweet. It has a toned down sweetness and a smoky, caramel flavor. Also, it has a distinctive dark brown color (that is why, sweets made of the gur also have a brown hue).
This winter season, try this Nolen Gurer Rosogolla at home following this easy step by step recipe. These Rosogollas are very soft and spongy and can also be healthier option if you are craving for Rosogolla.
