The top nuclear envoys from South Korea and the United States could meet in Singapore next week to discuss North Korea's long-range missile launch.
An official from South Korea's foreign ministry says Kim Hong-kyun, South Korea's special representative for Korean peninsula peace and security affairs could travel to Singapore as his U.S. counterpart, Joseph Yun, will be in Singapore for a two-day regional forum.
The official said the possible face-to-face was brought up during a phone call on Wednesday between the two envoys.
The Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue describes itself as an unofficial forum where officials from the U.S., both Koreas, China, Japan and Russia can meet in a private capacity rather than as official government representatives.
