Number 5 on the list is the weather.
Utah truly has the greatest snow on earth but it’s not all snow all the time. The state is considered to be high desert so we have the benefit of experiencing all four seasons. In Davis County, our average high temperatures range from the high thirties in December and January to the low nineties in July and August. We average 20 to 22 inches of rain a year and about 45 inches of snowfall.
We are better than the national average when it comes to annual sunny days. In Davis County we get 226 sunny days a year compared to the national average of 205.
Number 4 on the list is our school district and education.
There is only one school district in Davis County and it’s called the Davis School District. We have 98 schools, 2800 teachers and 73,000 students.
According to greatschools.org, 75% of the schools in the district are rated average or above average when compared to the other districts in the state. The student to teacher ratio is 24 to 1, 83% of the teachers have 3 or more years experience and 100% of the teachers are state certified educators.

Number 3 on the list is variety of housing options.
Davis County has just over 116,000 dwelling units with nearly 80% of them owner occupied and 20% tenant occupied. As of this recording, the median home price was just over $330,000 with the median rental rate at $1,300/month. We have many $250,000 options and several million dollar options for buyers to choose from. There are several master planned communities with on-site amenities if that’s what you’re looking for and we also have large lot options if you need some space.
Number 2 on the list is the economy and employment.
Davis County has a strong economic backbone with the largest employer being Hill Air Force Base. In addition to the federal payroll, the base employs thousands of private contractors. Davis County is also home to the Freeport Center where you’ll find thousands of manufacturing, distribution and food service jobs. bestplaces.net reported the median family income at $83,850.
And number one on the list is outdoor recreation.
Davis County has a ton of outdoor sports and recreation options. We have the Wasatch Mountains to the east where you’ll find trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and more. We are within an hour’s drive of 9 world class ski resorts. In March and April it’s not uncommon to ski in the morning at Snowbasin and golf 9 holes in the afternoon.
To the west we have the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island State Park where you can see bison, antelope, mule deer, coyotes, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, great horned owls and much more. We have the states largest amusement park in Davis County and there are several camping, fishing and hunting options in the immediate area.
