Students' bodies and opposition parties are leading protests in the North East after the Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019. Protestors say that the Bill would open the floodgates to illegal Bangladeshis. The opposition claims that the Bill is anti-minority and aimed at a certain vote bank for the ruling government.
