King Abdullah died aged 90 on Thursday and was buried today in a ceremony at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
His brother, Salman, has succeeded him as the country's new monarch.
The Prince of Wales is expected to fly to Riyadh to pay his respects alongside other dignitaries. It is understood that Clarence House officials are working urgently to get the Prince to Riyadh today, though as a non-Muslim he will not be able to attend the funeral ceremony itself.
Prince Charles has been a regular visitor to Saudi Arabia over the years and counted the king as a personal friend.
