Samsung Electronics heir and de-facto leader Lee Jae-yong has officially been pardoned for his crimes by the South Korean President, says Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd.
Mr Lee was convicted of embezzlement and corruption in 2018 and was released on parole last year after serving 18 months in prison – just over half his original sentence.
The pardon will allow the billionaire to return to work as Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics and will remove a post-prison employment restriction which was meant to be in place for five years.
