Genesis Seems To Have Hit A Home Run With The 2022 GV70
Genesis may have been a little late to the SUV party, but with the new GV70 and the larger GV80 it looks to have produced two great luxury SUVs that serve as proper rivals to the Germans.
In this clip, Asian Petrolhead had the chance to test out the 2022 GV70 on the streets just a couple of weeks after the SUV was unveiled. Obviously, it will be a little while before journalists outside of Korea will get to test the GV70 ,but in this initial review, it seems to get top marks.
The example tested here is the flagship GV70 Sport which features a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 375 hp and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. Thanks to this engine and the all-wheel drive system, the SUV can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 5.1 seconds. The reviewer recommends the 3.5-liter engine, but for those after more fuel efficiency, the entry-level model that comes with a 2.5-liter turbo four rated at 300 hp and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) is probably the better option.
In addition to the impressive powertrains, Genesis has outfitted the GV70 with heaps of driver assistance systems, including its Highway Driving Assist II that features adaptive cruise control with a lane centering function and lane change assist. There’s also a Smart Cruise Control system that slows down for bends, while another interesting piece of tech is the fingerprint scanner on the dashboard that allows drivers to start the car without the key.
