We are looking at the first looping animations ever created. The phenakistiscope (aka phénakisticope, aka phenakistOscope, aka Fantascope) was an optical illusion toy that laid the groundwork for animation. And while we don't stare into the mirror at spinning disks anymore (or do we?) we still see some truly excellent examples of this technology in sculpture, record pressing, and video art. In this video, we'll talk about a process to make these easily with a little help from After Effects.
