Our first day on the Camino de Santiago. Up, up and over the French Pyrenees.The views were spectacular and as we reached the highest point at 1430m above sea level, the mist starting rolling in... On the descent into Roncesvalles the forest was transformed into an almost mythical landscape by the rain through the trees. It also became a rather treacherous slip and slide over rocks and boulders down to our refuge for the night. After a long 26km day we enjoyed a hot shower and a pilgrim's meal with new found friends each relating their own experiences of the day!
