This is the shocking moment a car driver appeared to try his luck at a 'crash for cash' scam – before allegedly fleeing when he found out it was caught on camera.
Dashcam footage shows a silver Volkswagen Golf suddenly pull into the left hand lane before the driver appears to slam on the brakes, causing the van travelling behind him to shunt his vehicle.
Service engineer Ian Bell, who was driving the three tonne vehicle as part of his job, can then be seen getting out and assessing the damage to the car's bumper as he is confronted by the VW driver.
In the video the driver waves his arms as he appears to enthusiastically argue his case but Ian claims as soon as the alleged 'crash for cash' scammer learned he was being filmed he refused to exchange insurance details and drove off.
