By questioning something everyone takes for granted (which is a maxim I’ve been living by for years).
Usually, mountain bike tires are threaded diagonally.
Schwalbe just released a new carcass - the radial carcass - which puts the threads at a less steep angle, which means the material is under less pressure and can thus adapt to unevenness better!
At the same tire pressure, this increases the contact patch by a whopping 30%!
And even at 8 psi more tire pressure (+0.5 bar) it increases the contact patch by +10%!
How does this feel on the trails?!
