Poppy Seed Cake-Haşhaşlı Revani

Revani is a well known cake in the Northern Levant region as well as Turkey and Greece.
I cake soaked in syrup to give it a dense yet crunchy texture from the poppy seeds.
Its cousin rests on plates in the Middle East and is known as Harissa. Another Semolina Cake soaked in syrup.

In the USA, soaked cakes are becoming more and more popular.
Even though they have been around for centuries in Turkey and Greece.

It looks even like Art on many tables!
The taste is wonderful!

Ingredients:
4 Eggs
1/3 Cup Sugar
2/3 Cup Oil
1 Cup Plain Yogurt
1 Cup Semolina
2 Tbsps Poppy Seeds
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 Cups Flour

Syrup:
1 1/2 Cup Water
1 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp Lemon Juice

Vanilla Frosting of Choice to Cover
Chopped Pistachios to Decorate
