Miracle of Moscow: this is the moment Russia knocked Spain out the 2018 FIFA World Cup against all odds, after a tense penalty shootout. Igor Akinfeev saved Iago Aspas' penalty in front of a packed home crowd at the Luznikhi Stadium in Moscow.
Interestingly, Aspas was ready to go into celebration mode. He knew right away that goalkeeper Akinfeev guessed the wrong was and had dived the wrong way. The Russian goalkeeper just didn’t give up on the shot and it paid off. Aspas’ smile quickly turned into disappointment.
Russia went onto reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup, eventually losing on penalties (ironically) to runners-up Croatia.
