(14 Jun 1954) At Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, a Rocket Sledge has been built to develop safety devices for pilots who have to bale out at supersonic speeds. The first live passenger is Colonel John Stapp who travels down the runway at over 400 miles an hour.
