At the end of the second round of his fight with Tim Kennedy, Yoel Romero was very badly hurt and it didn’t look like he would have much time to recover between rounds.
Little did we know the confusion that was about to take place.
Time would be up, but Yoel Romero would sit on the stool for an extra 30 seconds, as the athletic commission would remove extra vaseline from Romero and scold his cornermen.
The round would begin and a seemingly recovered Romero would finish Kennedy 58 seconds later.
Some blamed the cornermen for stalling, and some blamed referee Big John Mccarthy for not taking control, but one thing’s for sure.
