Known as Gyukatsu Sando(牛カツサンド) in Japan, these decadent Japanese beef sandwiches start with A5 grade Wagyu sirloin that's breaded in panko and fried in scorching hot oil until crisp on the outside and yet rare on the inside. Drizzled with a tangy, sweet, and spicy homemade Katsu Sauce before being stuffed between two thick slices of pillowy shokupan (Japanese milk bread), it's an irresistible combo of textures and tastes.

4 slices Japanese sandwich bread (thick cut)

Katsu Sauce
1/4 cup sake
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoon ketchup
2 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon oyster sauce

Wagyu Katsu
400 grams A5 Grade Wagyu Sirloin (2 steaks 3/4-inch thick)
1/4 teaspoon coarse sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 egg
50 grams panko (about 1 cup)
